At their 11th annual Partner Appreciation event, James Martin Associates (JMA) continued their tradition of giving by raising money for charity.
JMA’s 2018 efforts—along with a generous donation by Russo Power Equipment—raised over $4,700, making the total raised at annual Partner Appreciation events nearly $42,000 to date. The donations were given by JMA’s partner vendors who attended the party, including SavATree, JM Irrigation, Elite Growers, Mariani Nursery, Night Light, Central Turf and Irrigation Supply, and Naturescape Design.
In addition to its charitable function, the party is held each year to celebrate JMA’s partnerships with landscape industry suppliers and subcontractors. “Whether it’s plant purchasing, irrigation installation, or tree pruning, we recognize that we’re all part of the same ecosystem and that we work best when we work together,” said Jim Martin, President of James Martin Associates.
This year’s theme was college football tailgating. Part of the event included a celebrated face painter who painted party attendees’ faces with colors and logos from their alma maters.
JMA employees also created a football field goal post, and attendees competed for a prize by kicking field goals.
University of Illinois alumni were recognized for having the most fans at the party.
The grand prize was awarded through a raffle drawing. Roger Fick of Wilson Nursery had his name drawn for the grand prize, which allowed him to select the charity that the money would be donated to. He chose the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit that serves veterans who have sustained a mental or physical injury, illness, or wound after September 11th.
“I picked the Wounded Warrior Project because it’s a small way of showing thanks to all of our veterans and their families,” said Fick. “I’m grateful to James Martin Associates and its partners who raised money to help these families.”
This was the second time in ten years that Fick has won the grand prize. His first charity selection was the American Cancer Society.
“Each year we always look forward to celebrating our partners while also raising much needed funds for important Chicagoland and national nonprofits,” said Martin. “It’s great to be able to bring together our industry’s community and give back at the same time.”
