How Do We Give Back?

Our Commitment to our Clients and Community

Corporate Responsibility

Changing lives through our pledges

At James Martin Associates, we celebrate our ability to enhance lives as a corporate citizen by supporting the community and charitable interests of our clients and of our Associates. Our support has raised more than $260,000 for charitable and community organizations.

As an example of our commitment, when an individual signs a new contract, or sends us a referral, we pledge $100 to a charity of their choice.

Our corporate citizenship has enabled us to support the charitable and community organizations listed below.

Potting Parties

A Unique Way of Using our Expertise

Over the span of 15 years, James Martin Associates and partner company L.I.D. Landscapes in Boulder, CO, have donated over 120 potting parties to local charities and organizations.

These potting parties are used to raise funds at the nonprofits’ silent auctions. Valued at $600 each, they include lunch, a guided tour of JMA’s landscaped grounds, a container with plants, and gardening techniques taught by a landscape professional. Partner Appreciation Parties

Coming together to support the community

Each year, JMA hosts a Partner Appreciation party that raises funds for local and national nonprofits. The grand prize is awarded through a raffle drawing in which the winner chooses the organization to receive the night’s donations.

With the help of our partners, we have raised $42,000 to date for charities like the American Cancer Society and the Wounded Warrior Project. Read more about last year’s chosen nonprofit.

“I wanted to thank you very, very much for what you’ve done for my garden. It’s gorgeous, the flowers are flowering, and the clematis are flowering, and everything is just gorgeous. I appreciate everything you have done and there is one sentence that you put into a memorandum that said ‘Connie should have a very special garden’. I’m enjoying it very much and it’s special and I just wanted to thank you.”

“Your guys are fabulous, they always leave the job site every day in immaculate condition. I just wanted you to know that we really appreciate their professionalism; they are very courteous and neat. We are very pleased with your crew and wanted you to let them know and wanted to thank you.”

Scholarships

Educating the next generation

Scholarships are the lifeblood of the educational system. Many students graduate with tremendous debt that may take years and years to pay off. Scholarships help minimize this huge burden.

They also help attract high quality individuals to a landscape education. For many, once they are exposed to this line of work, they stay in the industry for the rest of their lives.

Kids Against Hunger

Helping to alleviate worldwide hunger

For the last six years, JMA Senior Vice President and Landscape Architect Heidi Sibert has chaired an annual food packing event supporting Kids Against Hunger in conjunction with Winnetka/Northfield Rotary Club, the Volunteer Center in Winnetka, and the Winnetka Community House.

Last year, individuals and groups packed over 100,000 meals and raised $30,000. Read more about how these efforts help needy children in Nicaragua.
