Spring Mulching

A 2-3" layer of mulch provides additional moisture and a cooling effect for plant material during the heat of the summer. In addition to improving the general appearance of planting beds, it also reduces weed growth. Organic compost increases the nutrient and microorganism levels in the root zone. It also improves the planting beds aesthetic value and is recommended for annuals, perennials and ground covers. Plants love compost since nitrogen is the key element for a plant's leaf growth and development.

Turf Renovation

With the temperatures warming and increased precipitation, spring is an excellent time to renovate turf. Core aeration is the use of mechanical means to create perforation in the turf.  This improves the movement of air, water and nutrients promoting root development in compact soils. Overseeding and slit seeding after core aeration can restore bare and troublesome turf areas.
